Three Simple Steps to Eating Your Fruits and Vegetables

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables every day is healthy for you. They have vitamins and minerals that can help protect your health. Most are also lower in calories and higher in fiber than other foods. As part of a healthy diet, eating fruits and vegetables instead of high-fat foods may make it easier to control your weight. Use these tips as a guide:

  1. Find out how much you are suppose to eat. Every body is different. For a quick calculator, click here.
  2. Know your serving sizes. One-cup serving: one large orange or large sweet potato; one half cup serving: 16 grapes, six baby carrots or four large strawberries.
  3. Add it in throughout your day: Add fruit to your cereal, eat a big salad, eat vegetables with dinner and choose raw vegetables as a snack.
