Did you know that having a high level of triglycerides could increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and heart attack?

Most people know to keep an eye on their blood pressure and cholesterol levels, but triglycerides are important to monitor as well. Triglycerides are a type of fat found in your blood. If you regularly eat more calories than you burn, you may have high triglycerides.

How to keep levels low?

  • Lose any excess pounds
  • Avoid sugary drinks and refined foods
  • Limit cholesterol in your diet
  • Choose healthier fats and eliminate trans fat
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages
  • Exercise regularly

A simple blood test can reveal whether your levels fall into a healthy range.
