Pool Safety Tips

Swimming is a great way to cool off during the summer, but it can be dangerous to unsupervised children. Have fun and stay safe this summer by remembering these important pool safety tips:

  • Never leave a child alone in or near the pool, even for a moment.
  • Make sure an adult is within an arms length of children 5 years old and younger at all times.
  • Keep rescue equipment (such as a life preserver) and a telephone near the pool at all times.
  • Do not use flotation devices as substitutes for approved life vests.
  • Remove all toys from the pool after use so children aren’t tempted to reach for them.
  • Secure the pool when finished swimming to prevent kids from going back in.
